Every year...
… When the Sundance Film Festival rolls around, I am reminded of that one time I had to go for work and drove to Park City from LA in a giant SUV packed with promotional materials and went to a party where Sam Nazarian invited me back to his hotel room to “hang out” (I politely declined), I had a really awkward conversation with Kevin Richardson from the Backstreet Boys and we...

What We've Been Eating
Guacamole is a staple around here. Maybe it’s my inner Californian, but I can’t get enough of guacamole on sandwiches, in salads, stuffed into tacos or piled high on top of a tortilla chip. Mash one avocado and mix in 2 tbsp red onion, half of a jalapeño, a handful of chopped cilantro, the juice of 1/2 lime and a sprinkle of sea salt. That’s it. So simple and so perfect.  ...

So I'm going to Austin in March
During SXSW interactive, though I will not be attending the conference this year. The boyfriend will, however, so I plan to spend my days exploring the city, shopping and eating my way through Austin. And maybe attending a few events here and there before meeting up with him in the evenings to go out and have fun. Though maybe not as much fun as last year: I want to have my own little photo...

An Update
So the cleanse. It’s still happening. We’re into week two, which means the caffeine withdrawals are far behind us. Brian (the boyfriend), who was a total coffee addict, has said he might continue forgoing coffee when this is all said and done. We’ve started running again, which is glorious and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. Also of importance: I’m down seven pounds since...

Cleanse: Day 3
Breakfast: Smoothie. Again.  Snack: Pistachios. Again.  Lunch: A hectic morning and a day jam-packed with meetings resulted in take-out sushi from my favorite KC spot (Friends on 39th). One 6-piece salmon avocado roll and one 6-piece spicy tuna roll plus a house salad with ginger dressing. Worth it.  Snack: Carrots and hummus. Again.  Dinner: Ah-mazing salmon and caramelized brussels sprouts...

Cleanse: Day 2
Breakfast: The smoothie. Again. It’s good and easy and filling. Snack: Handful of pistachios. Lunch: This salad. Again. Same comment as above. Snack: Carrots and hummus. I am a creature of habit. Dinner: Veggie frittata with, sadly, one tiny sprinkle of cheese. Lessons learned: Sriacha makes everything better. Kombucha is my friend. MyFitnessPal is extremely helpful. During a cleanse,...

Anonymous asked: I hope this isn't incredibly awkward or even downright inappropriate to ask... but I was wondering about the invitations that you made. They are freaking adorable! From the picture, it looks like you printed on one long sticker and wrapped it around the envelope. Where did you get those stickers??! What fonts did you use? Did you print those on Vistaprint? I would love any details since I am...

2011: A Very Lengthy Recap
It’s time for the annual recap. And ohhhhhhh lawwwwd was it a doozy of a year, but I lived to tell the tale. So here you have it: the best and worst of 2011 in all its messy glory. I made a lot of pizza. A LOT OF PIZZA YOU GUYS. Evidence: here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.  I cooked. Frequently. And not just pizza. Many dishes were dirtied. Many bellies were filled....

New Year's Eve Party: The Menu
We’re having a small group of friends over for NYE to celebrate with good food, games (c’mon - who doesn’t like party games?), and assorted sparkling beverages. Also party hats, noisemakers and some awful slash awesome 2012 glasses. Which I will wear. Proudly. If you think NYE is meant to be spent in a ballroom full of strangers at an overpriced party with a cash bar and one...

Anonymous asked: Please tell me how you got to where you are (career wise). I need motivation. I've been out of school for over 2 years and CAN NOT find work to save my life. Any advise? Would you be willing to take a chance on a bright, young woman who is a quick learner and dedicated as hell?

Anonymous asked: I would like to know how you seem to go about making friends so easily. I have followed your blog for a long time and you seemed to have great friends in Wichita and now lots of fun new friends in KC. I have a few friends that l grew up with that live far away and I see them when I can but would love to meet some friends in my current city. What are the secrets to your fabulousness?
